And Such Were Some of You:

Bible verse

but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified,

but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

~I Corinthians 6:11

Whenever I come across this bible verse, whether in my own reading time or listening to another speaker, it always catches my attention. It is such a powerful reminder of what I once was, what Christ has done for me, and how I need to not “think of myself any higher than I ought (Romans 12:3).”

I think, or rather, I know that some Christians tend to think of themselves as better than those who are living lives contrary to God’s word. I know that I have had this mindset in the past, and have had to work on changing my thinking. It is also something of which I have to constantly remind myself as well.

When my children were younger and they would get together and start talking about someone, I would ask them this question. “Are you perfect?”

They would always answer with a “No.”

“Well until you are perfect, you have no right to talk bad about anyone else.”

They never did have an answer to that statement.

I think that’s also a good question to ask ourselves whenever we feel that pride rising up inside of us, and we want to look down our noses at someone else, or …..maybe even…..gossip (gasp!) about them.

Where or who were you before you knew Christ?

Where would you be right now without Him?

Homeschool Encouragement

Here are just a few words for all the homeschooling parents out there who may be struggling a little bit, and wondering if it really is worth it. I homeschooled 4 children from kindergarten through high school graduation, and it was worth all the hard days, struggles, and sacrifices. I would gladly do it all over again.

One full-time income, only one car, no brand name clothes for the kids, and none had their own cell phone, but it was worth it. I had to work a part-time job at night here and there during the years, while still homeschooling, but it was still worth it. We never had a new car, and, in fact, 3 old cars were given to us at different times, but it was still worth it. We didn’t own a home during those years, but it was still worth it. One child had a learning disability and didn’t learn to read until she was 10 years old. We had to spend extra money on a special reading and spelling program for her, but it was still worth it. Yes, we were all home all the time, and got on each other’s nerves occasionally, but it was still worth it.

We accomplished many things through those 21 years of homeschooling, but the most important thing we did was finish. My children saw my husband and myself persevere and not give up on ourselves or them. They saw us stick with it through the hard times, and they learned to do the same. You see, your children aren’t learning the most important things from those school books. They are learning the most important things from you, their parents. They are watching. What are you teaching?

I do want to make it clear that I realize there are situations in life that would require some to change their children’s schooling situation. I would always do what you feel God is leading you to do. This article is for those who are struggling with the every day issues that can pile up sometimes and make you want to quit, and you just needed a little encouragement to keep going. I hope this helped.
